Although I am not the inventor of anything, or a world traveler, I do believe that my life so far has been meaningful and exciting. From my freshman year of high school, to my freshman year in college, I have learned who I truly am. I have also learned who my true friends are, and how to distinguish honest people from a crowd. My college experience was filled with stressful moments and peaceful moments, but I look back with no regrets.

I was born and raised in Ibarra-Ecuador in a family with parents who had very clear goals for their three children, to have a profession. After I finished high school I left Ecuador and traveled to Cuba, where I lived for 8 years in order to receive my Medical degree. Then I came back to Ecuador to complete my residence in Urology. In 2001, I came to the United States to a medical congress in Chicago and to take a short English course in NJ where I met my Cuban husband. I have one child who is is two years old. I am raising him to be bilingual and proud of his Hispanic heritage.

I learned not only English, but Italian and French as well. I became multilingual, speaking Spanish, Italian, and English, and French. I have a very heavy accent in English, but I really enjoy having fun with it with all my American friends. In the process, I made new friends from a lot of different cultural backgrounds.

From this experience, I have learned to regard every life experience as if I have nothing to lose and so much to gain through the experience itself. I have learned to stand by my beliefs and to fight for what is right, to accomplish my dreams.

I am currently attending the University of Sacred Heart. They validated some of my credits from my medical degree in order to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner care.

I joined the ParentSmart Family in March 2008. Since then I learn how children need your presence more than your presents. My short term goal is to graduate from college and continue my studies in Medicine until I can pass all the Medical Boards in the United States.

My constant and long term goal is to be the first teacher to my son and raise him in a family oriented environment. I want to teach him about different cultures and how important it is to give before you receive. My parents had a goal for me to have a profession and I share that goal for my son. I know to achieve that goal I must work to teach him how important is to have a career, because no matter how much money you have, money comes and go, but your knowledge never goes away.
