Free Books for Preschoolers- Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Recognizing that reading is the primary skill all children must have, all York County school districts and a number of community partners are making it possible for all children in York County, from birth to age 5, to receive a free book each month from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. To receive the books, parents in Rock Hill can register their children at any branch of the York County Library or by calling the Early Learning Partnership at (803) 323-2180. Home Visitation
A certified family educator visits and provides support to parents in their role as the child’s
first teacher.
Including:
- child development information
- parenting tips
- suggestions and activities for the parents and child
- developmental screenings
- bi-lingual educators available
ParentSmart PLAY – Positive Learning Activities for Youth
Bi-monthly parent-child activities for parents and their children ages birth to five years.
Including:
- active learning experiences
- literacy and concept development
- music and movement
Teen Parent Program
A certified family educator visits monthly and provides support to teen parents in their role as
the child’s first teacher.
Including:
- child development information
- parenting tips
- suggestions and activities for the parents and child
- developmental screenings
Monthly teen group meetings offered in school
- meetings strengthen parenting skills through information and discussion of relevant topics
- assistance with ABC voucher for students enrolled in Family Literacy program
Parent Discussion Groups
ParentSmart Family Literacy Partnership
Parents and children come together to learn in a family friendly environment where “Parents
are at the heart of education”.
Including:
- Adult Literacy - GED Prep & ESL Classes
- Early Childhood Education
- Parent Education
- Parent and Child Interactive Literacy Activities
Parents can earn their GED and/or learn English while gaining support in reaching family and
career goals. Participants learn how to prepare their children for school success, increase
their knowledge and confidence regarding child development and benefit from a variety of
family enrichment activities.
Resource Center
One Stop Shop for families including on-site support agencies, information, assistance, and referrals to families with specific needs. Services available in both English and Spanish.
